Psalm
Ps 138:1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 7-8
In the sight of the angels I
will sing your praises, Lord.
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple
and give thanks to your name.
In the sight of the angels I
will sing your praises, Lord.
Because of your kindness and your truth;
for you have made great above all things
your name and your promise.
When I called, you answered me;
you built up strength within me.
In the sight of the angels I
will sing your praises, Lord.
All the kings of the earth shall give thanks to you, O LORD,
when they hear the words of your mouth;
and they shall sing of the ways of the LORD:
“Great is the glory of the LORD.”
In the sight of the angels I
will sing your praises, Lord.
Your right hand saves me.
The LORD will complete what he has done for me;
your kindness, O LORD, endures forever;
forsake not the work of your hands.
In the sight of the angels I
will sing your praises, Lord.

of the Archdiocese the
weekend of February 13 and 14. A letter was mailed to your home asking
you to

Catholic Charities or by putting it into the parish collection basket
and we
will forward your donation to Catholic Charities. Please be as generous
as you
can.
Youth
Ministry News
Last weekend we had
four teen parishioners participate in the Cedar Rapids Quest Retreat,
held at
LaSalle Middle School. Tasha Redmond and Austin Swantz volunteered as
team
leaders, while Ben Koffron and Kindra Ockenfels were participants.
Quest is an
area wide retreat for freshman and sophomore students. It is a chance
get away
from the regular routine, meet new people, and talk about important
life and
faith issues. We are very happy that we had students represent St.
John’s
Parish, and hope more will be able to participate next year.
Building
Project Up-date
As
parishioners have
noticed, the church renovation process began the week of January 11th.
The
opening meeting with architect John Mahon, representatives from
McComas-Lacina
and the owners has taken place. Builders risk insurance has been
obtained.
Pictures of the ground breaking ceremony are posted in the church
lobby.
General Chairs met in mid December to get an update on the capital
campaign and
pledges after nine months. Parish offices have been moved. Rectory
storage has
been consolidated. Steve Noll will represent us at the construction
site as
necessary. Plans are in place for moving the piano and organ. The
Project
Commission will meet next on January 28th. Still no definite word on
when we
may moving Mass to the basement. Contact Tom Wieseler at 895-6850
with any questions.
