Parish Profile:
The Catholic community of St. John the Baptist serves the needs of people from the Lisbon, Mt. Vernon, and rural Cedar Rapids, Ely, and Springville areas.  The parish has a membership of approximately 400 households or about 1,200 souls.  The parish offers two masses per weekend (5:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sundays).  Religious education is scheduled from mid-September through April for 325 students (grades pre-12th).  In addition to our Eucharistic life and religious formation, the parish offers activities throughout the year for families, elderly, and youth.  The parish no longer has a resident priest. Archbishop Hanus of Dubuque appointed a Pastoral Administrator, Susan Schettler, in 2002 to oversee the on-going day to day operation of the parish.  Fr.
Jim Brokman serves the parish as sacramental priest, presiding at our Eucharistic and sacramental celebrations. Fr. Brokman provides spiritual guidance and counseling.  The parish is a vital and viable Catholic faith community, grounded in the Mission of Christ.
