Overview
The
purpose of the Spiritual Life and Liturgy Commission Commission is to
encourage proper worship as a community, according to the magisterium
of the Church, by invoking the Holy Spirit at all times, and to help
nurture the spiritual growth of each individual member of the
community, so our lives will bear witness to the world of the presence
of Christ in us.
The
functions of the Commission are:
-
Identify
the spiritual-growth needs of all parish members
-
Assess
the effectiveness of all present parish programs and organizations in
deepening the spiritual life of the parish, and to assist them in
developing a sense of mission.
-
Provide
opportunities for the spiritual growth of parishioners through
retreats, days of renewal, preparation for the reception of the
sacraments, small study/prayer groups, etc.
-
Promote
the development of church ministries, both ordained and lay,
identifying people qualified for various ministries and providing
training for the various ministries of the parish, e.g., cantors,
ministers of hospitality, lectors, etc.
-
Coordinate
and schedule the activities of all parish liturgical ministries
-
Implement
the liturgical guidelines issued by the Archdiocesan Office of Worship.
-
To
be informed about the various programs of spiritual growth available in
the Archdiocese, and to evaluate their potential for renewal in the
parish, e.g., LAVEN, Christian Experience Weekend, RENEW, parish
